I am a senior consulting research scientist at OCLC where I work on web-based user interfaces to bibliographic and full-text databases, primarily OCLC's web-based FirstSearch®, for which I work on all aspects of the user experience. Try FirstSearch with demonstration versions of a few databases.
My research interests are in several information sciences and their applications:
At the intersection of these diverse fields is the need to understand how information technology can augment human capabilities and compensate for human limitations.
My research is in the area of hypermedia,
an area founded from the need to integrate multimedia information structures.
My research paradigm is to develop theories about how people can best manage
information, build software systems or information artifacts that embody the theories,
and evaluate their effectiveness.
